In Kerala 1st Coastal Police Station was started at Neendakara in Kollam District in the year 2009.
There are so many major and minor vital installations like Petronet LNG, SPM, VSSC Thumpa, Cochin Shipyard, Cochin Port Trust etc
Coastal Police is alert and on sea patrol 24 hours in 3 shifts to secure Coastal frontier by conducting boat patrolling.
General awareness programs for the fishermen community are being organized by Coastal Police in Coastal areas regularly.
In many occasions Kerala Coastal Police, has to undertake dangerous rescue and search by venture operations into the sea, especially in rough seasons.

Kerala Coastal Police is meeting the requirements of number of hours of patrolling laid down by the SOP approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Kerala Coastal Police has deployed boats 100% during the last two “Theeravetta Exercises” and our average deployment is around 90%.
